Default Oklahoma City Tudors

Hello,

Oklahoma City has several neighborhoods made up of Tudor Revival houses. I live in one myself. I attached three pics of homes in my neighborhood. You will notice that some of the houses had decorative half-timbering on the side gables that has been covered by vinyl siding (okctudor3-my house). Here are some neighborhoods with Tudor homes: Lincoln Terrace (2 story homes, more ornate), Lincoln Terrace East (now known as "Medical Community"-1, 1.5 story homes, less ornate), Gatewood, Linwood Place, Crestwood and others. Oklahoma City experienced a huge housing boom in the late 20's so there are many, many Tudor homes in the city.

If you are looking to re-locate, homes are very reasonable here. You can find a nice 1 or 1.5 story Tudor for 90k to 175k. A two-story runs from 150k to 250k. Oklahoma City hit rock-bottom after the Oil Bust in the 80's. The city is experiencing a revival that started in the mid-90's and is still going.

Westchester County, NY: Scarsdale, Larchmont, Pelham, Bronxville. Rob a bank before you go looking, though. :-)

This is an older thread that seems to have been revived.
As a fellow old house lover (who lives in a 1930's Tudor) check out oldhouses (which allows you to search by style). Other good sites include historicproperties and antiquerealestate (all "dotcom").

If the mods delete, just do a google for "old homes for sale"

Note to the mods: not affiliated with the above mentioned sites in any way, shape or form. Just trying to provide useful info.

Thanks, Plaid. I will have a look at some of them.

Just received my issue of Early American Life and a house in PA was profiled. An old stone farm house, so picturesque. I pictured us living amongst the trees and deer in our cozy old house... with my husband cursing because another pipe has burst, and me wanting to live near the Mall.... hahahahaha!

St. Louis metro has some wonderful Tudor revivals, esp. in University City, Clayton, Pasadena Park, and Normandy. If you've not seen Lee Goff's "Tudor Style: Tudor Revival Houses in America from 1890 to the Present" by all means, look it up.

We recently purchased a 70's era Tudor revival in Springfield, IL and it's a delight!
