There appears to be differing views on this...as it is not highly popular to have hardwood floors in the kitchen, anyone have any problems placing rubber mats by sink, fridge and stove.

I have placed mats and rubber carpet mats on wood floors with no problems.

I dont want to ruin the look of the dark wood- but unfortanately I have 3 shar-pei and they slobber water all over !!!!, even WITH a big mat.

I didn't place a mat under my fridge water dispenser and it was an ugly mess on my hardwood. I placed rugs that matched my floors in front of my sink and refrigerator and they blended in pretty good (so good in fact that my kids kept tripping over them!)
