Dysons warranty is a 10 years now on most models which is nice.

We do love our Oreck - we bought it almost 4 years ago and we are very happy with it. I love how light weight it is. We have low pile carpeting, tile and hardwood and it works well on all surfaces. We did buy the top of the line model so it was expensive - I think it was about $800. Ours has a 20 year warranty which they no longer offer.

I currently have a Bissel that did great at first but after only a year or so, it hardly sucks at all dispite cleaning all the filters and checking for clogs. Any opinions on good vacuums for less than $500. Thanks
For items like this I always rely on Consumer Reports 'zine to give a starting point. Then I search online for reviews by purchasers (type name of vacuumn mfgr. and model # + "reviews"). Don't forget to consider what you need and the fact some things are more important to you than to the CR testers and other users.
