Just had a new air conditioner installed and before the end of the day the outside fan was not running. Tech on phone had me turn off A/C, turn the fan manually once and then turn A/C back on. That worked but now the fan has stopped again. Brand new machine - has anyone else had this experience? Do I have a lemon. Tech says if the fan stops in a certain spot the magnets may not be in placed in such a way as to get it going. Should I ask for a replacement? It's a RUUD UANL series.

The company who installed it needs to get a tech out ASAP to take a look. If it does not work they absolutely need to replace something. It could also be a simple as a loose wire.

Default Thanks Racelady

I'm probably more po'd than I should be since it's probably something simple. The company should be here between 11 and 12. They don't make them like they used to - my last one worked for 25 + yrs with no major issues. Day one problems worry me.

my outside unit's compressor just died on me like 3 weeks ago. ive been sweating like a pig since then. every company is trying to sell me a brand new upgraded unit, 16 SEER energy efficient, and all that mess. problem is i dont have 8K to spend at this point in time, nor do i want another finance payment to have to add to my bills. i just want to replace the compressor, or even the outside unit as a whole, but not the entire central ac unit!!!

We had a similar problem at the end of May, and we called Calvert to come fix our a/c. No pressure to get a new unit and they were on time and reasonable. I know that they are a franchise, but I would either call them or call the number of the installer that you will find on your unit. Make it clear that you just want a repair. Good luck. It is too hot to be without a/c.

That happened to us in late May. Thanks goodness we now have a home warranty. We didn't have one when the heater broke when it was 20 degrees outside!! They took care of it for us. Just a new compressor, but hey for 60$ what more could you want?
