Anyone have this in their yard?
I have recently needed some ideas to block out my lovely neighbors in back.
How's that saying go...."good fences make good neighbors"...yup....

Anyhow, I'm looking for ideas of privacy for the yard without breaking the bank and installing new vinyl fencing or moving to a very secluded area...which would break more than one bank at this time.

I've heard of 'reed fencing' and wanted to ask here if anyone has experience with it or if anyone has other inexpensive ideas for more privacy in my backyard...
**The yard is currently surrounded with chain link fencing**

Thanks in advance!

Since you have chain link fence installed, they make plastic strips to go in them for privacy.

Smile Love my reed fencing!

I've got a 30 year old UGLY (and wobbly at some points) 4' high chain link fence along my rear property line that I covered with reed fencing a couple years ago. The hardest part was tying it to the fence so it would stay up; used twist ties at 1st (not so good), then stripped electrical wire and found that longer pieces at 3' intervals or so worked best. (Tie it both high and low.) Unfortunately, the 6' high reed fence would not stay attached during windstorms or heavy rainstorms. I finally took it all down, cut it to 4' high and reattached (whew!). Haven't had a problem since. So definitely match the height of the reed to what you're tying it to. I've found it to be an affordable compromise; I, too, didn't want to spend big $$$ and wasn't sure how to just replace my portion of the chain link fence which continues to neighbors' yards on either side. Give it a try!

We had the same problem after we attached the reed fencing to the chain link. The top two feet started breaking off. Then I had a brilliant idea! After we attached the reed to the chain link, we attached a kind of square chicken wire (6' high & comes in rolls) in front of the reed, so we still have 6' of privacy. It has been up for 4 years and you can't even see the chicken wire unless you're right up to it. Good luck!

I just did this last month....I used lattice board to hold the reed fencing in place. We put the lattice board (lengthwise about 18") or you can put up the whole sheet, next to the chain link fence with nylon electrical ties you get at a hardware store, get the longest ones. I then put the reed fencing next to the lattice board and we secured it with the ties.
The lattice makes it easier to attach the fencing to the chain link.
