Okay, strange question came up. I closed on my house on 11/4/2011.

the former owner and hubby moved out of the house in June 2011. They've never changed their address on the mail... avoiding bills obviously.

the first week I bundled up everything and sent to their address (from the closing paperwork). it's been a couple more weeks and still nothing changed.... literally, I'm getting 5-8 pieces daily.... I got mad and wrote "return to sender not at this address" and dropped in the Post office box.

Any suggestions as to how to deal with this?

Like a kitten at the back door....
so long as you continue to accept the mail the USPS will keep dropping it off.

If you know their new address then fill out the forwarding card for them.
And in the mean time stop accepting their mail.

Leave them in your box with a note to the carrier... make sure you include their new address.

Hehe. Just give the mail back to the postman like I said. You can't fill out the card and it is the usps that forwards. Why is this so hard?

I write right on the envelop (no one by this name lives here) and put it back in the mail box - works every time.

I too am also pretty sure it is illegal to fill out a forwarding card for someone else.

I think about all you can do is keep returning it to the post office/return to sender.

Its like five years in prison and a $10000 fine.

My wife would do the return to sender...no such name here...like a Elvis song.

Me, I know what I would do....trash their mail....if they did not forward it....it is their issue...not mine and not worth my time to even think about it.

Now watch those that get on me...but...it is illegal...not right...yada yada, etc. but they are taking my time and they do not have my permission to do so.....
