Hi,
So i'm staying in this big fancy house (house sitting) and i did something stupid.
I lost the garage door opener.
It's not a fancy one ... just a small rectangular one with one little button.
I want to replace it on my own without involving the owners or the property manager and i need to do it fast.
Does anyone know what the process is and/or what's the best way to approach this, how long it will take to get one and how much the replacement will cost?
I'll go into action with this tomorrow but just wanted some advice and info before i begin.
Thank you.

step one is to get up on a step ladder...
to get the *exact* make model and serial number of the opener that is installed.

step two is open the yellow pages and call the companies listed under that brand name.

there are also universal opener options but hold that in reserve.

hth

I can do that.
Thank you.
So the speed in which i can get a new one just depends on how fast it can be shipped i assume?
And cost? roughly.

You can probably find one on a shelf locally... or at least up the hill in SJ.
Not more than $20 (I'd guess)

Home Depot and such carry universal ones, very easy to program. From personal experience if it is from Overhead Door you need one from them specifically. Cost is about $20-35 depending on the amount of buttons

Great!
I was thinking it would be over $100.
Thank you both.
