We have a 10 year old gas furnace which blows nice warm air but I would like to save some more money on gas if possible.

Right now the settings are the following:
Span 3
Day 72
Night 60

It takes about 40 minutes to heat up from 59 to 72 after a cold night.

The outside temperatures vary between ~ 42 and 0 degrees in a normal winter.

What is your advice/ideas?

Cost is about 90USD

72 is an awfully warm setting for wearing winter clothing (sweaters, turtlenecks, etc)

Ours is 68/62.
Don't now what span is....

Span 3 means the furnace turns on if the temperature is 3 degrees below the set value.
You can set span 1 to 3.

Put on a sweater and turn the heat down to 68 during the day, assuming someone is home during the day, if not, turn it down to 63 during the day set to warm up about 30 minutes before someone comes home.

$90/month is pretty low for a gas bill.

Also, having good insulation, caulking around windows, etc. will help save energy costs (heating and cooling) too.
