Knots in Shed
I had a shed installed in my yard. The wood trimming has several knots in the wood. When I painted, the knots bled through the paint. Is there a way of covering them up?

Seeing as you're going to have repaint the area anyway, sand the knot area down to raw wood and apply a coat or two of shellac. Once the shellac has dried, repaint.

you could also prime with a stain blocking primer, such as Kilz in Zinser. Can you paint over shellac? I never knew that, I would have assumed it would be like painted over poly and the paint wouldn't stick.

Cornerguy is correct... I have found that shellac works much better than Kilz .
I 've also used shellac on water stains on interior ceilings which will normally bleed thru a new coat of paint.
btw...shellac dries so fast that by the time you get the lid back on the can, work some alcohol thru the brush to clean it out and open the paint the shelllac will be dry and your ready to go..
