I have a central air/oil heat unit . I am a little baffled though. I was under the assumption that all these units had a filter right on the unit itself. there is an oil filter for the heat but the only other filter is on the wall in the living room which is on the other side of the house. Is this normal? Another thing that puzzles me. I cannot locate a drain line for the central air condensation. There is no line coming out of the house anywhere. Any advice on where this line is located?
You have a filter grille which basically just locates the filter to another area of the house that's better suited for the return air. It's simply a run of duct work that connects to the furnace.
As far as the condensate line you'll just have to go to the furnace and see if you can follow the line or if it has one at all. It should have one.
yes for AC the return air is all that needs to be filtered and this can be any large vent you see and it leads up to the air handlers (in the attic for me). I actually have only 1 return for 2 floors/zones. As long as everything is able to circulate, you're good.
