I think thermal pane windows are the worst thing ever invented.

We have them in the apartment and the glass keeps getting the condensation in between the glass. I have had the sashes replaced twice already using different glass companies.
I had the 2 living room windows done last summer one complete window upper and lower, and one upper sash, as the bottom one was still in good condition and clear.

................that is until last week, I came home from work and I was like, WTF is this now, the bottom one had water dripping in between the glass...............ugh.

we were better off with wooden windows and triple track storm/screens....these thermal paned windows are a hell for me.

I hope every one else has better luck.

Wow. I've never seen storms that weren't aluminum.

Maybe they were anodized aluminum?

they were aluminum, but they were dark brown, not white.

storm windows came in many colors back in the 70's, black, tan, brown, yellow, blue....

as a replacement window contractor, I can say I haven't seen this type of glass failure in decades, with the exception of heat mirror glass in theb1997-2003 era.
I think your bronze exterior may be a contributing factor to your issues. I won't even sell dark colored vinyl windows.

The color of the vinyl would have absolutely nothing to do with it, condensation in between glass does not know the difference between "white" vinyl windows or "bronze" vinyl windows, as the glass is really a separate component from the vinyl, as it slips in.

Here in Brooklyn NY a lot of the apartments have since replaced all the windows, and since I am so anal about the "condensation" thing, I can see from the outside when the sun shine who's windows have the steam and who's don't, and a lot of people here have it for some reason. I am assuming poor quality glass, where the seals can be broken easily.....plus just an inferior product.

It makes no difference whether the color of the windows is "white" or "bronze" for the steam to appear. Many of the the apartments here in Brooklyn and Queens have the bronze color, more so than the white.

Shuffler - I'm in the same situation. Original Thermal Pane "R.O.W." windows in my 1989 house. So you just replaced the glass in the windows? that's a huge savings you noted. If so, how did you do that without replacing the whole window? My other idea would be to replace the gaskets or seals around the windows. Thanks!
