Default Laminate Flooring

I bought laminate flooring that needs to be installed. What would be a fair price to pay? I am not sure, so guidance would be nice.

DH-Sub-contractor-Laminate installer for upscale flooring store in MD. Glueless Laminates- Store pays sub 2.00 per square foot plus extras. He charges people who call him (not thru the store) 2.00 per foot also. Shoe moulding-.45 per foot, reducers-.55 per foot, take up old cpt. 1.50 per yard. The store doubles it I do belive. (at least!) He has been in the flooring industry for 20 years. (definately not a good way to get rich!) Always use the best padding you can get-Carpet one stores have a "gold" pad (rubbery sound and vapor barrier) that is great.

It really depends on your area. Get a few quotes. I know here it depends on the season and how busy things are, but usually about $2 a foot is good. It could be as much as $3 a foot.

Installation here in San Diego much more expensive... I haven't found anyone under $7/sf.

Labor is probably much more expensive in your market, AnotherBravesFan. It's not that tough of a job for an ambitious DIY. I've installed laminate in my friends' houses before, just took up the carpet and padding, prepped the subfloors, and away we go!

Default Re : Laminate Flooring

The most affordable price from a qualified flooring expert is the best! The going rate is about 2.75 SF if you have the materials. Try posting your project at www.projectground.com. Welcome To Project Ground for reputable contractors and competitive pricing. I found my flooring contractor from there.

Wow, laminate is so easy a newbie can do it with only a couple tricks under their belt.

Hiring a pro at $2.00/sq. ft. or more to put in laminate is like hiring a professional landscaper to come install a few bags of mulch.

I would find a local handyman from your yellowpages or classifieds, look for "carpentry" as listed skills/services, as they would have all the tools and know-how.

If you can, try doing it yourself. It is really simple, just using your power saw and measuring correctly. I am a woman and I did all the cuts myself. Give it a try. You will be proud of the results. Good luck
