I've had good luck with Panasonic cordless phones, but I'm sure there are others.

I just bought a Vtech 6.0 at Target for $50...love it and the speaker phone is neat because it is on the handset not the base...I love it...it is sleek and nice to hold. Highly recommend.

I am rather OCDish when it comes to purchases like this. Needles to say, I did exhaustive research (and drove my DH crazy). I read all of these websites with user reviews, etc. and settled on the Uniden 5.8 Digital - Model #TRU9486-2. I bought it at either Circuit City or Best Buy. It only requires 1 phone jack and you can up to 10 additonal phones. It has personalized ring tones, a digital answering machine, a Do Not Disturb feature, a hold button, speakphone, intercom. You can dial from the base or any handet. It stores up to 100 numbers, has a flashing red LCD light on each handset to indicate new messages and on and on. I've had them for about a year and LOVE them. So that's what I'd recommend.

I recently bought a Uniden TRU9485 cordless phone set (three handsets and an answering machine) to replace several older sets (Panasonic, Sony and AT&T). The system is absolutely wonderful. Sound quality is fantastic, menus are intuitive. Each phone, plus the base unit, have speakerphones and access to the shared answering machine in the base.

I have a Uniden myself. It's been dropped, drowned, and tossed, as well as moved three times. Still works great.

Hello my fellow OCDer. I am a Panasonic fan and I can't seem to find a cordless phone, with and answering machine, which mounts flush on the wall. I DON'T want one that sticks out at an angle as it will interfere with my opening the kitchen cupboard. I only want and need ONE handset, and I don't want talking caller ID. Do you have any info that might help me?

I, too, am looking for a cordless phone. Uniden sounds good, but have not heard of that brand. Thanks for the info.

I've had my v-tech last for many years. I really like the quality. As I recall, vtechs were pretty cheap.
