My Hiels were installed by a marginal 'jack-of-all-trades' builder.

In my current home I've cut 60% of of my heating bills as compared to the 20 year old Carrier gas furnaces that were previously in this home. I'm smiling all the way to the bank. These Goodmans will pay for themselves in less than 10 years, and that's when my warranty runs out..
Going on two years with no complaints. Self checked and cleaned everything before the gasser kicked a week ago on a cold night.

No leaks, no problems.

They are common, builder grade stuff. The reason you see so much about them is that there are so many builder grade units about, esp. with the housing boom tha past 5 yrs.

I would not want one in my new home.
I have been in the HVAC industry 20+ years. 6 years ago I would not give a goodman unit to my worst enemy. After Goodman bought Amama the company decided to be the best quality equipment made @ a value price. Two years ago I removed a 2 year old Lennox unit and put an Amana unit on my own home and have since become a Goodman Dealer. I have 100's of testamonials from my customers of how great the equipment is. The great value allowes me to give my customers the best warranty in the industry, a great product, great factory support. Yes they produce builders grad units, all equipment manufactures do. But! only Goodman has more than a 1 year warranty on the builber grade units. Sorry builders only care about price, NOT giving their customers great products. Goodman found a way to do both.

My installer fixed my unit at no charge to me. I really don't have much faith in these units now that I have read the comments on this site. My units supposedly have a 10 year warranty on parts and labor, but I guess I'll have to wait and see. The heat pumps are working fine so far.

I live near where goodmans are built and we use air conditoning a large part of the year. Goodman has a high rate of leaks because of the cheaper labor they use in building their air conditioners.

I Don't know where you get your information But is incorrect as per ACCA (Air Conditioning Contractors Assocation), AHRI (Air Conditioning, Heating, Refrigeration Instatute), and ASHRAE the assocations that govern the HVAC industry Says, that Goodman has less than .01% leaks from factory welds. Most of the leaks associated with Goodman (and ALL manufactures) equipment is from poor installations. Choose your installation company carefully

My house has a Goodman unit that's self contained outside and so far it's been excellent. It's a natural gas unit and it's three years old.
