Hey all, my DH and I just bought a new smooth top LG oven to replace our old one. What a mistake! The new oven smell is making DH and I completely sick, headache, nausea, eyes burning, etc. we ventilated the house and ran the self clean for 3 hours, and ran it at 500 degrees for awhile a couple of days in a row,but to no avail. So we are returning it to the store for a refund. My question is does any one else know of any other brands that don't do this to this extent? If not, I hope to find a nice used smooth top in either black or ss that is a couple of years old. Any used appliance stores any one can recommend? I wish I had my old range back, but they claimed they had already destroyed it. Any way thanks for any help you can offer.
It most likely is just a protective coating on the burners. Once burned off it should be fine.
Sorry, but after "we ran the self clean for 3 hours, and ran it at 500 degrees for awhile a couple of days in a row, but to no avail;" protective coating would have burned off by now...

Could be a small piece of packing that is used when shipping & was not
detected . The protective coating would have burned off by now. My
guess is that there is something foreign to the stove that is still causing
this.

I saw that line! I think I know a bit more about this subject than you! They're gonna smell it for a while!
You are likey to find the same smell in any new range you buy, might as well wait it out with the one you have. the last one I bought instructed you to clean out the oven with soap and water before using it the first time, then run hot as you said you did and wipe again. But it still took a couple weeks or more for the smell to go away.
Am quite use to new burners smells with gas stoves ot even convestional elctric. had no such smell fro bunrers with our glass top tho. Did you clean the top fi so what with and now well rinsed.
