We are renovating our kitchen and have about 85sqft of countertop space to cover. In reading up on granite slab countertops I came across a company that does granite countertop overlays. This may be a less expensive method (I don't know but am making this assumption) but is there any advantage or disadvantage to going with a granite overlay vs. slab? Thanks

That overlay crap is...
Well, crap!

For barely no extra money you can get 3cm slab.

Don't assume it's a less expensive option. We got a quote from an overlay company and it was more than TWICE what we ended up spending to have quartz countertops installed--and at least at that time, quartz was more expensive than a lot of granite options.

Also, since seeing all the promo materials from the overlay company, I can now spot overlay countertops a mile away. It looks cheap. Don't do it.

Thanks everyone! That's exactly what I was looking for...we will stay with the slab for our countertops.
