Because of comments on another thread, I thought it might be interesting to get feelings on having a housekeeper -

Do you have a housekeeper? If not, how come?

No I don't, nor do I care to have one. If between my husband, myself and our two kids, we can't keep up with it, then something is wrong with us.

Yes, we have a mad service that sends a team of 3 or 4 illegals in for a few hours every week. And, by and large, they do a very good job. Scrub down the floors, scrub the tub and shower, and so forth. They'll also go around and pick up all my wife's dirty laundry that she's left strewn all over the house. I do all the laundry in the house, but I ONLY do what is in the hamper. Since my wife apparently has religious objections to placing dirty clothing in the laundry, I have humungous laundry loads after the maids come and pick everything up for her and put it in the hamper.

And, no, she doesn't work... she's a stay-at-home mom with 3 kids in school all day M-W-F, and two of the 3 kids in school all day Tu-Th. Still, nothing seems to get done from a housework perspective. So I hire the maids to come in and straighten everything up so I don't get mad and blow up and get accused of being an abuser or something like that.

Personally, I would rather spend my time with my spouse, my kids and grandkids - on the lake, at a ballgame, having a picnic, hiking etc., than spending it cleaning the house -

Our housekeeper is no stranger - she has been with us for years - and, she is wonderful. She has a key to the house and comes and goes as needed -

Same here, but there are few people stranger than me, so I cut myself a break.
