I guess maybe everyone doesnt know, but its not just the heat, the agitation too can cause fibers to shrink. A cheaper WD might give Tue clothes a more forceful beating then a more expensive brand.
That doesn't solve anything. I'm on a 2nd floor apt (w/ no elevators) & I'm not going to haul all these loads of laundry to/from the laundromat. I'm sure not going to hand wash everything either!
Oh you poor baby my heart just breaks for you.
I live on the 4th floor of a walk up for the last 25 years and I have been lugging my laundry to the laundromat, which is around the corner, and lug them back wet, then hang them on my clothes line which is out my kitchen window 4 stories high which is attatched to a huge iron ladder in the courtyard.
so sympathy you not going to get from me, you poor thing
Some clothes MUST be washed per hand, other MUST be dry cleaned. Most would appreciate air drying.
Do you know what lint is? Lint is your broken fabric fibers. Lots of lint means lots of fabrics damage. Simple as that.
I always wash my jeans in cold water, and if i want a quick freshen I use the quick rinse cycle with no detergent. I do this for other clothing as well if it isn't soiled. Of course under wear and socks go through full cycle with detergent. If I have a pair of jeans that tend to be a little tighter after washing I slip them on right after washing and still wet, do a few squats and sit for a bit, then hang them to dry. To keep them from looking wrinkled, lay them on a counter and smooth them out really well with your hands. Do it first with them flat and then folded like you would to hang them on a hanger. You have to use some pressure but you can get them to look like they were ironed. Also, stretch the seams. Putting them on wet sounds crazy I know, but it works.
