We had a big sinkhole in our front yard, aprox. 40 feet away with no damages to the house. Paid nearly 30k to fix it. Now that we plan on selling the house, we would like to know how much the house value is after the sinkhole is repaired. We were told by an appraisal company that the fee would be $1,700. Before deciding to pay such big amount of money, we would like to know the rough value of the house right now. Any suggestions/information much appreciated. Thanks,
The value of your property is what people are willing to pay. Since there has already been a sink hole, I'd suspect that most buyers wouldn't want the property or would want it for a very good deal. People will be afraid another sink hole will happen again---even right where the house is located.
Here's an excellent article on the issue. It says that repaired sinkhole homes are worth 25% less than comparable homes that don't have sinkholes.
