I have reason to believe my neighbor is coming onto my property when he knows I'm not home.
I would like to set up an inexpensive camera but I know nothing about them and hope someone can point me in the right direction.
I already looked them up on Amazon but what I'm seeing are cameras that play continuously to a t.v. in your house.
Since I'm really only concerned about what goes on when I'm not here, I'm really looking for something that takes actual video or series of still pictures.
I can't afford a huge expense, and since it is something that I would only have turned on when I'm not here, I don't want to (nor can I) go top dollar on it.
Go to your local sporting goods store and buy a game cam. Hunters use them all the time and hide them in trees, etc. They are motion triggered, so you will not have to have it running all the time, and they are meant to be easy to set up.

Awesome suggestion!
I'll also look them up on Amazon to get an idea of price.
I really love Amazon simply because of their buyer reviews. Those reviews should point you in the direction of a cheap, easy and quality cam. It's like having a free Consumer Report on everything they sell. Good luck!

And I have Amazon Prime so chances are I'll be able to find something with free shipping.
I agree about the reviews, too - I always check those.
I haven't tried mine in this configuration, but a dashboard cam often has a motion detector circuit and infrared lights for night vision AND costs about 1/3 of a game cam. It also is less detectable by humans.

I'll check that out, too, but would you be able to set a dashboard cam up outside? Or does it actually have to go on the dash of a car (I suppose that could work - I'd just have to have my car facing towards the gate across my driveway, I guess)?
Get yourself a Foscam camera. They are very easy to set up if you have Internet. Set it to take snapshot of motion and email it to you. Find out your neighbor's email address and send a few to him.
