Hi! I'm new to this forum. Happy Thanksgiving to those who are celebrating! I live in a mobile home and just found out yesterday that the inside HVAC unit is really in need of replacement. The inside unit is a 96 model and not sure of the brand, but it came with the mobile home. The outside unit is a 2004 Trane. The service guy said we should replace the whole thing because there is nothing compatible with the 2004 model Trane. Is that true? that just doesn't sound possible to me. It's only 3-4 years old and I DON'T want to spend th emoney to replace the whole system. Any advice? I live in the Savannah area of Georgia. I'm at work right now, so I can't get the model number. Thanks!

I have an older outside model and just had to have the internal unit replaced. It was no problem. I was warned that I would not get the full benefit of the energy efficiency, however.

Okay, thanks for the input. How did you know where to find it? Dumb question, but I don't know where to start.

It depends on what you have. You can loose more than the lowest SEER when mis matching. Check here for more info on mismatching equipment. What is the model number for your train we can look to see if there are any matches on ARI Directory of Certified Product Performance
