I live over an aquifer on sandy loam. I always had a sinking driveway. I always had a couple of small leaks into the basement. i wanted to fix the driveway and leaks on a small budget. I looked around the internet and found a commercial grade woven poly fabric playground underlayment in Wisconsin. I bought 250' x 6' for $80. Guaranteed for life as long as it not exposed to sunlight.

I had the driveway graded. Layed the underlayment down and covered it wit crushed pea gravel. Across the front to house that is seperated by a steps I graded the yard, added the underlayment and then framed it for curb appeal. Then I fllled it with river rocks and lava rock.

No weeds, no water in basement, and no sinking driveway.

On the back side of the house was a gutter to a shallow french drain that was filled with sand a rocks. I dug it up. Dug down another two feet. Put rock on the bottom, replaced the drain with PVC pipe with drain hole, covered it with rock. I re-attached the gutter and topped with it with lava rock. No lake in tne yard around the gutter, no weeds, no grass, and no water in the basement.

It is one of the best investments I ever made. The underlayment stopped problems that nave annoyed me for years.

Thanks. Actually it didn't take but about four hours with two. Mostly it was labor. The bobcat operator graded and spread the rock. The other man laid the underlayment and leveled the rock. The front of the house was finished the following week The carport had been rebuilt a week earlier. The total cost for the three projects was about $65/hr for 12 hours including the bobcat.

My bet-
Your "cure" was 90% CORRECT GRADING and 10% fabric (weed block).
