I think stainless and black look passe.

I love the color fridges, but they are expensive and online reviews make most of the ones available in north america sound shoddily built.

So, white is what remains.

After having 2 avocado fridges, we have stuck with white. Some of the Stainless Steel have those no fingerprint finishes which would appeal to me.

As for your question, I prefer white. I can't stand the modern stainless look.
I would suggest that you go shopping and see what you like.

I prefer white in a kitchen...it's light, bright, and looks clean. Our house is newly built, and military housing, so we didn't have any say in design or appliances, but I'm so glad the kitchen is all white appliances. So crisp, sunny, and cheery.

White is ok,as long as it has that semi clear look like the new ones do.

The old white ones from the 90's? No!

I prefer black appliances and I have black. My cabinets are black onyx bead board, and I like the continuity of the black appliances with the black cabinets. I feel there is no break up of cabinets. Cabinets, stove, then more cabinets....it looks like one continuous black.

I would do the same if I had white cabinets as well. I would get white appliances. I don't see how white appliances look "cheap", and they still keep the milk cold, really....

I don't think, IMO, that all brownish cabinets match SS (some look OK). SS is silver and to me, IMO brown and silver do not match. I also could have gotten SS, as that does look good with black cabinetry also, but I didn't want silver in my kitchen. So my choice was black.

A lot of the light brownish toned cabinetry to me look better with black appliances or bisque/almond.

White appliances look best with white cabinets, and SS does look nice as well. Also depends on the look you are trying to achieve. I don't really like white appliances and I don't think they match any type of wood color at all. White and brown do not match, but almond / bisque look better with brownish cabinets.

I think what annoys me is when people say: we have to upgrade to SS.

since when is changing a color an upgrade. A stove has a flame, a fridge has a cooling system, whats the upgrade all about.

Fortunetely though we do have several choices of appliances that will suit every ones needs. What would happen if everyone bought SS now and then 5 years from now a new color comes out. People just don't throw a fridge and stove out just to change a color and keep in style.

and FWIW, i still like the coppertone of the 70's. Ok, I dated myself.

There is something sort of new that has caught my eye - called "white ice" and it's the opposite of the stainless on black models - white with stainless trim! It is a trend, but not too wild that it will be dated too soon, imo.

Bisque or green are my favorites. White is ok but can be a little cold. Black never seems to go with anything. Stainless seems too industrial to me. I don't like home kitchens that look like restaurant kitchens.
