I apologize about the picture. I measured the slope last weekend end the back of the house is 12:3. The back roof is also very long.

I have also attached a new picture. As you can see compared to the first picture, we did some extensive work to the house last summer. Which is when we put on a new roll over ridge-vent, replaced an aluminum one. But I still have the same leak problem.

Where the guy is standing is the peak that is leaking (living room). The peak of the of the roof to the right (bedrooms) is about where the exposed beam is in the living room. Like I said I am just taking a stab in the dark thinking that the water gets in at the peak rolls down the ceiling about 8 ft and then into the house at the exposed beam.

As for house location. I haven't noticed any high winds or mini tornado's. We have houses on all sides of us except to the west. The front of the house is facing south.

Roof leaks can get to be a real mystery. Since it's become such a mystery, how about putting a well sealed tarp over sections of your roof to see what happens. It could be just one more process but could rule out one more thing. We had one leak where we tried that rubbery surface seal, everything possible and never found it. Found countless other leaks but not the last one. Had nothing to do with any water on or off in the house and nothing to do with whether it rained or not, iced or not.

Thank you all. Does anyone know of anyone who is a roof specialist in the southern WI / northern IL area?
