I was away Memorial Day weekend and when I got home I noticed a puddle of water around my oil furnace in my basement. I mopped it up and 2 hours later the puddle was back. The furnace has been OFF for weeks. Any ideas what could cause a water leak? The water seems to be seeping out from under the cinderblocks that are holding the furnace off the ground.
Hi Parsec,
Check under the furnace for possible causes for sure, but, check any and all areas around and above the furnace ( the walls, floor, ceiling) and penetrations like ducts, fuel lines, plumbing lines, ac condensate line, the vent pipe, electric conduits or cords and check for any stains/signs of dampness. Water could be directed to the HVAC equipment and eventually puddle under it.
