I'm redoing the guest room. Seems that the comforters come in Queen sizes AND Full/Queen. What is the difference?
Do they not list the dimensions? Most, if not all that I've found do but if not, I would assume full/queen isn't quite as long and/or as well as queen. BTW, if you have a platform bed in there and a mattress w/any height, I suggest a King size. I have queen on the full-size bed and king on the queen-size.
Comforters always post dimension. Check your bed size and decide what size comforter will work best for you.
Depends of bed type and how high is your mattress, you would need different kind of comforter:
Basically it is all in your desires and demands. Measure how you want something to drape/hang on your bed. Use this measurement to chose the actual size versus the name. Several times I have bought King as it is was closer to how I wanted it to fit my Queen bed. If memory serves me correctly, my last purchase had something listed as oversize Queen. The better manufacturers list their measurements so choose based on that.
I've found the full/queen comforters are too small. I have an extra thick mattress and get king size comforters, they cover the foundation where the queen size didn't so then I'd have to use a skirt or leave it uncovered.
I've read enough reviews on overstock complaining that even a "queen" comforter is too small on a queen bed that I would be very wary of buying a full/queen without very close attention to dimensions.
I always buy a King size comforter to go on a Queen bed and I'm always satisfied.
^+1 My bed frame is 11" off the floor, my foundation is a low profile (4 inches), and my top mattress is 11.5". I prefer a king comforter for my queen bed.

We do the same for the queen beds in the guest rooms. We have a King and there is nothing larger. I don't understand why bedding manufactures haven't figured out yet that when you have a person or 2 sleeping in a bed that the comforters are just not wide enough!! Add 6" or so please!!
The most recent comforter that I bought is really long...my mattress is thick and my bed is tall and the comforter reaches the ground all the way around the bed. It's actually too much blanket to sleep with, it feels like it takes up the whole bed and doesn't leave room for us. But it looks great when I make the bed.
