Currently we're pretty traditional, but I always find myself gravitating towards french influences. I just can't help myself.
We're in the process of a home addition and remodel and I keep wondering if we should head in the direction of nautical/beach house being that we're less than a mile from the water, but because we're not boaters or big beach goers (at the moment), I keep leaning towards traditional.

Wife, I hope you can hear my applause from there.....
For me, it's old. Revolutionary times to early '20's. The furniture in the Sherlock movies with Robert Downey Jr. had me drooling.....
since we're going to FL I guess it would be light colored French Provincial?????
and if money were no object you will still find me at Goodwill and the thrifts, just not afraid to pay a bit more......
If money were no object, I'd definitely collect artwork from my favorite artists. My house would be eclectic, just as it is now. I'd still shop at thrift and resale shops, but I'd travel more and have more art from those travels.
I'd haul professionals in to repaint, hire someone to consult with on colors. Install wood flooring everywhere but the bathrooms. Do some sort of radient heat tile in the bathrooms.
Redo all my curtains, figure out how to do a "light breezy look" in the open concept downstairs. White mouldings against gray walls? Crisp linen curtains and white silk sheers "billowing" accross the gleaming hardwoods as sea breezes roll in and out.
British/West Indies style, open, with the interior extending to the exterior of the home. I want to feel like some rooms exist both indoors and outdoors. Plantation style shutters, large wrap around deck with fans and seating, a pool that feels like it belongs nowhere else but at my home. Dark hardwood floors, natural surfaces and green vegetation inside. A detached garage that doubles as a air conditioned work area with a loft upstairs. An open pool house with a changing/bathroom, palm leaf style roof and an outdoor kitchen and bar.
I would make this beautiful Victorian a showplace. It is already on its way but there are many things that are put on hold because of $$$$$. I would want a lot of high end Victorian items-i.e. lighting, some furniture (even though we already have a lot of antique furniture), etc. etc. The outside also needs to be addressed.
Authentic art nouveau -- period Tiffany glass everywhere. Tiffany glass windows, sky lights, and lamps. Guimard, van de Velde and Serrurier-Bovy furniture. Lautrec prints on every wall. I'll need roughly $45 million to decorate my house. You did say money was no object.
Gilded age , industrial baron style ala Vanderbilt, Carnegie and Rockefeller. My house unfortunately for me is modern, open, airy with tons of windows and clean lines. Doesn't match my style so I can't decorate it the way I want. I have to match its style.
