I did a quick search on the forms about this and there hasn't been a post about it in two years. We are in our new home now last seven months and we love the skylights in the den of our home. The only issue is that it is a high cathedral ceiling. The windows are 44 in.². I was initially just going to buy blinds and install them.
But then we started looking on Amazon and see that there are several different types of films that can be applied to windows.
Ideally I think we want to film that reflects a lot of heat but let's in light.
I'm curious to know if anyone has any good recommendations please
If you are OK with going on the roof then you might consider covering them with shade cloth- there are varying degrees of the sun reduction and people use bungee cords to secure it.
Many makers of double/triple pane windows state that applying a film to the inside voids the warranty.
If you have basic woodworking skills, this looks like an interesting solution:
I think that would come in handy in Texas where we get tons of Hail storms... Would be nice to plop that up on the skylights before the storm hits and tries to take it out..
