has started going out. Does this mean a new range or does some sort of element need replacing? Someone relit it for me recently but it didn't stay lit but a couple of days.
It could be it is just dirty. It also could be something that needs repair. If you are comfortable lighting a pilot, you might try cleaning out the gas office with compressed air (like those small cans you can buy at office supply store to clean computers), and relight the pilot. If it goes out again, then have someone come out and look at it for repair.

Appliance repair man just left and it's fixed. It only needed cleaning. I'm so glad I don't have to buy a new range.
