Any recommendations for or against?

I'm not clear what a steam washer even does that doing a load on hot doesn't, but since I'm buying a new set, I'll probably end up with the steam washer if I go with a steam dryer. I think I see the utility of a steam dryer in helping with wrinkles but would love to hear the experiences of those who have one.

We had a thread about it, and members shared experiences:
Steam Washer and Dryer- I will share my research with you
I heard that the wrinkle removal is not so great, especially for the price. My cheap solution is putting few ice cubes in the dryer with my wrinkled clothes, run it on its hottest setting. The steam they produce, along with the hot temperature - smooth out the wrinkles.
It's strange, but it works.

Also you should know that the steam cycle does not wash clothes. It should be used to quickly remove wrinkles and freshen a garment. It does not provide deep cleaning.
It works the best on cotton, but high heat can cause clothes to shrink. So there is catch 21 - natural fabrics can shrink, synthetics or mixes should be not washed very hot. Heat tends to make some clothing shrink, wrinkle, and fade. Different colors may turn out splotchy after using hot water/steam. Other fabrics are delicate and don't respond well to high temperatures.

I own Electrolux steam washer and dryer, yes they did cost a pretty penny but been worth it, I love em best set I have ever owned, clothing smell and feels clean and fresh! Plus I love the Touch Up feature , great for getting wrinkles out or fluffy down pillows etc.... This set replace a Maytag top load, that I dislike and was very unhappy with it's performance...
