A while back I saw on TV (HGTV, Discovery, etc...) some homes that were built in a small community (I think) that looked like gnome homes. The roofs were all crazy and bumpy? They were very irregular and designed to look like that. I am having a hard time describing this The homes looked like something out of Grimm's Fairy Tales. Someone please help! I am going crazy w/this stuck in my head! Thanks! And for those who haven't seen them let's hope someone can help 'cause you just have to check them out!

Smile gnome home?

How cool is that? I have to say I have never heard of this before, but can see where you would have questions. I do. What is the purpose, are they just cute or what? Was it a whole village? Where was this place? Wow! Tell us more.

I remember seeing something on that, too, but don't remember where they were.

I do know that this style of architecture is called storybook architecture. It was a movement around 1930? We have a few of these homes in Pittsburgh. They look like hobbit houses and are extremely cute!

Default Wow!

Thank you! I have got to check this out. Has anyone else got any info? If I ever get to build a house in the country, this would be a cool idea. Especially since I do childcare. It seems to fit right in. I love it! Would love to see pictures of these homes.

Bendshire looks like another planet. When I win the lottery, I'm moving my whole family there!

Chatty, you have got exactly the right idea! It's very close to what I saw and may be in the same neighborhood... Hope you can find that show thanks!!!

Ruby, my family (Mom and Dad) moved FROM Oregon to TN to be closer to us but looks like we are moving BACK lol! I love that neighborhood! It's now what I saw but I'll take it! Thank you.

Ok, you guys inspired me to do some more digging Check out storybookers.com There is a yahoo group/blog link that actually has posts from the guy building in Oregon! Cool! And a mention of a neat village, which may be the one I am searching for is... Carmel by the Sea.
