I am trying to remodel a small bath and bought Kerdi shower kit. Liking overdoing things as I am, I'm thinking to put two layers of the orange Kerdi Waterproofing-Membrane for extra strength, one layer over the other layer using unmodified thinset mortar. Before I go ahead do it, I just post here to make sure if it's a good idea? and cons?
Don't do it. Not only is it unnecessary, you can introduce failure of the laminate if you do that over large areas. It's a great product when used as directed, however.
