Just about the only thing I use bleach for is to bleach our white ceramic sink. I also use backing soda and salt on it, or borax, but bleach is the only thing that gets it really white.

I don't feel a need to sanitize things. I figure if we were surrounded by deadly bacteria all the time we'd be dead. Our immune systems handle most things just fine and research seems to be showing that we need a nice proliferation of bacteria in our bodies.

We drink it. Literally, it is the most effective thing to purify our water supply, which is surface water from a stream. It ends up *extremely* diluted and most of it gets used up in the process, but it is vital to our health and well being.

I only use white vinegar to clean.

We also use it to clean our water supply. We raise poultry (chickens, geese, ducks, turkeys) and once each year before the new chicks arrive, everything is scrubbed down with bleach. Day-old birds are now so expensive (in quantity) that we do not take chances with their health. You can have what looks like a healthy group of babies one day, and all dead the next -- without knowing exactly what caused it.

I also find bleach handy to swab down the tables where we process our meat birds. That really is one area where people can get sick from bacteria-laden meats. Better to clean the area thoroughly.

I'm glad that bleach is available! We actually use diluted pool shock.

No bleach here. I use castile soap with a freshly laundered cloth to clean counters. Bathrooms get vinegar mix. The tub sparkles after a wipe down with a Mr. Clean magic sponge.

When mold and bacteria needs killing, bleach is the thing to go to. Regular cleaning not so much, because of the smell and the potential damage to clothing.

I homebrew beer; bleach is vital for sterilizing buckets and bottles.

Hey, so, I had a friend walking on a sidewalk...a car jumps the curb...
no gory details...but he was in the hospital for a looong time, visited every day.

His calf was all wrapped up and they would pour diluted bleach over all the gauze!
Whoa!!
He didn't look fwd to those days.
It worked...he got out with no gangrene.

I use bleach pretty much the same ways the OP uses it. Always have. I find the smell to be a clean smell. My family and I don't get illnesses related to "uncleanliness" either, and we seem pretty strong in our old age, too. I'm 60, hubby is 58.

Vinegar just doesn't do it for me, just doesn't clean as clean as bleach and 409, and other chemical cleaners. I figure if I've gotten this far this way, how bad can it be??

Sorry, just my opinion.
