We are buying a house where the bath was taken out and replaced with a mobility shower bath....so like a one inch high bath......all plumbing the same but we are wondering what it would cost to take that out and pay
It a bath back in. We got a crazy quote in the 1000s
Any ideas?

How Much Does it Cost to Install a Bathtub?

Bathtub Installation Costs | Average Price to Replace a Bathtub

I would add an additional $1000 for the extra demo removing what you already have.

The tub, faucet, drain, related fittings etc won't be less than $400 wholesale.
Then you have the finish materials. And of course markup on materials.

The DEMO required is almost a complete unknown (from here)...
but whatever it affects, like tile and other finishes, needs to be redone as well.

Under the best of circumstances this work is a 3 day Mechanic & Helper job
3days @$500 per (bare minimum) comes to $3000; @ $700 it's $2100.
At $1000 per day (about par) it comes to $3000
Plus the materials and you're easily in the $4000 range.

Choose a fancy tub or faucet and even more.
More complicated than thought and another day too

If it's me - I'd find a competent plumber and pay $500 or $600 cash while buying all the materials myself. I'd leave the existing tub before paying thousands for a job like this.

You really dont want to go cheap when water is involved. Finding the cheapest plumber/contractor could result in water damage weeks to years down the road. A lot of the cost will be in things you dont see, like the water barriers that go under/behind the tub.

Thank you everyone

So I looked at the shower area,...it is not tiled..just a big plastic casing ...put in for an elderly lady to shower.

We have decided we cannot prioritise this job as roof needs doing.
We will become a family that showers till u can get my dad over to teach me how to put a bath in..just pay a plumber to do the important stuff. Youtube the rest.

I am not willing to even pay 1000 after buying the bath. Do tradesmen really charge 5oo a day? Wow. Should have been a plumber......it takes me three days to earn that so I will learn to do this job myself...till then it is showering.the roof I
Alone is costing9600...so we need to be dry more than we need to get wet)))

Considering it’s most likely a minimum of 2-3 trips out.....yeah good luck.

Pretty amazing how a lowly tradesman can make a lot of money. I know what I charged and yeah $500 a day isn’t really that expensive. Truthfully that’s pretty much average. You’ll probably have about $1500 in plumbing fees for the whole job.

Good reliable tradesmen are hard to find. I still get calls from customers who need work done and they have the same complaints
