I bought a stainless steel gas grill a few years ago. Apparently the handles on the grill are low quality stainless or not stainless at all, as they now have a lot of rust. The rest of the grill is fine. Does anyone have a good recommendation for removing the rust?

Flitz metal polish. I had similar isue with a bunch of small rust spots. Used this stuff with a little elbow grease and it looks like new. Coated entire grill with Remington gun oil and it still looks great for over 6 months now.

I clean my with Oven Cleaner (spray), then remove rust with W-40 with a metal brush. Then rinse really good with water, and apply some cooking oil to the grids.

Electrolysis.... for something small like that you can just use an old transformer from something like a printer but it's going to take longer than if you have a battery charger. Note the new automatic battery charges won't work because they think there is something wrong. Something interesting to do with the kids too. You probably already have everything you need, note that is washing soda and not baking soda.

Electrolytic Rust Removal aka Magic

This process will take off anything, paint, rust, dirt.... You're actually removing a very thin amount of material. You'll proabaly want to prime and paint them afterwards.
