I bought it at a yard sale and it looks clean. I wonder if any one of you readers of this post would have it dry cleaned before using it or would you use it without since it looks clean.

NO! even for a dog bed! It wouldn't come in my house (or anywhere but the bed of my pickup truck) without going to the cleaners first

OMG. I wouldnt have bought such an item at a yard sale - not even for my dog, as MidValleyDad said -- but, since you did, you should certainly have it cleaned professionally before bringing it into your house.

You can clean it yourself, hand wash in cold water with mild detergent. Lay the blanket on flat surface to dry.

I had a wool blanket I used for camping, used it over my Ridgerest and for the dog. Never really cared about the shrinkage so I would just wash in the washer with warm water and low agitation occasionally. Hung to dry.

Gosh... I would have passed in the first place.
My Thrift Shops won't even take them because of the potential for... oh, you know.

Definitely dry clean it!

Yes, I'd wash it. If I didn't care if it shrunk, I'd wash it in the washer and maybe dry it. If I cared if it shrunk, I'd have it dry cleaned.

As others have said, I probably wouldn't have touched it at the yard sale, and if I did buy it then I wouldn't have brought it in my house before cleaning (which includes sterilizing) it. I'd put it in a 225 degree oven for a couple hours for starters, to kill off any insects, eggs, etc; then I'd dry clean it or very carefully clean it myself. Then I'd put it in a plastic bag and probably never use it, out of the lingering creepiness factor.

I wouldn't even put in the bed of my truck. Now, if Mrs. NBP wanted to carry it in the back of her Forester that's on her.

Spend $10 and get it dry cleaned.

A good Woolrich blanket is like $400 new and last decades. Sure, clean it. But it's not an old t-shirt or anything. It's more like a very high quality coat.
