Default Stainless wearing??

I have a stainless steel (Amana) 1 1/2 year old refidgerator ,and I am starting to notice "wear" marks under the left handle (it's a french door model) where our hands contact the door when opening it. Is this normal?

"Wear" marks??? We have a stainless amana of about the same age and we do not have this. Are you sure they are wear marks. Stainless stell is solid and known for it durability. I never heard of any have wear marks. Jay

Stainless steel will definitely wear. Know what a stainless steel sink looks like after a few years of use.
The constant touching/rubbing of hands and the dirt and oil on your hands can "smooth" the brushed finish of the stainless. From a durability stand point- I wouldn't worry about it. But if its a cosmetic issue that makes you stay awake at night- you can use some course steel wool to bring back that brushed look.

Stainless Steel is one of the most durable materials... it can be finished in many ways.

Maybe the area under the handle is scratched or is getting "Polished" from use?

When you say "wear marks" - do you mean discoloration? Or do you mean scratches? I have both and just use lemon oil to polish and both disappear.

Hope that helps!

Do you wear jewelry? Is it hitting the refrigerator when you open the door? The only thing that is going to make marks on stainless steel is something that is harder than the steel (like certain gemstones in jewelry).

That is exactly how our scratches have happened. Now that I think back, at one point I took soft scrub and gently rubbed those scratches. Otherwise, I use Weiman's Lemon Oil. I have had stainless appliances for over 16 years now, and I have had no problem taking care of it - use some soft scrub as necessary and follow w/ Lemon Oil. I was planning to bring our old fridge w/ us when we moved but it looked so good - the owners wanted it so we worked that into the sale. So it doesn't take that much to keep that stuff looking top notch.

Restoration ArTechs, Inc. is on a distinguished road
Default Its not Stainless

If the handle is effected differently than the rest of it, its an aluminum handle. The handle is hard to make out of steel, so they extrude it out of a mold w/ aluminum. If it IS stainless, our company restores stainless steel. If it is true stainless, its probably the rings or watches doing tiny scratches
