We have the red (DC14 Low Reach) Dyson and absolutely LOVE it!! After buying 3 vacuums in less than 4 years, I splurged. We have had it for almost 2 years now and it is awesome! We are tough on vacuums! I figure with what we spent on other vacuums, it only has to last for 3 years (has 5 year gaurantee!) and it will be less than what we spent on the others. It really is great tho, picks up pet hair really well! I plan to buy another one if we end up in a house with more than 1 level. I bought it online at best-vacuum.com with free shipping and no sales tax, was the cheapest I found both online and in town. Good luck with your search!

Well, I wound up buying a Dirt Devil yesterday and thus far I love it!! Told my cousin who said that's what she's had the best luck with, that if I didn't I was making a trip to KS just to throw it at her.

It has great suction and the power brush actually works!

Kirby vacuums are the best!! I don't care how heavy they are....they work great!! My grandmother had the same one for like 20 years and it always had the same great suction. mine is 13 years old and I'm having the same luck!!! They are lighter now than they use to be too. I use mine for pet hair mostly and drapes etc...i have wood floors throughout now.
