I'm calling this a pure fabrication. The Painter had a valid work order....from who? And what painter is going to come out and paint somebody elses house? You'd have to be pretty stupid to do that and I doubt there's a painter in the world that wouldn't be checking about ownership before signing a contract. And to find a painter that is apparently sitting waiting for the phone to ring....I doubt that. Around here you'll be waiting 4-6 weeks for a painter to come to paint the outside of a house. Even in depressed areas painters are in high demand as most folks now want to sit at a desk behind a computer and make big bucks. Nope, pure horse bagels on this one.

Yep, I think this is a hoax too. The police can't do anything? And if the woman has film footage, why is she wasting time on Reddit? She should call an attorney. And I agree about how quick a painter would start a job--not quick. And why would neighbors go to such length and expense to get a gray house instead of a yellow one? Balderdash.
I can't say anything further about what has all happened, on the advice of my lawyer. I will provide an update once everything is resolved.
