We have lived here a while now and there are 5 vents on the side of the house- perhaps the microwave vent, bathroom vents, etc that have birds nests in them. The dryer vent one was just cleaned out by a paid dryer vent cleaner. I was just wondering if its worth cleaning out and putting a mesh over the other vents that are NOT the dryer vent?
We have had no issues in the few years we have lived here, so I wondered if we could just live and let live.

Vents don't work so well when they've got birds nests in them.

but if we have not had issues using whatever vents in these few years, does it really make a difference?

What exactly do you consider an "issue"?

If I know there's a nest in an exhaust vent I know it's not operating at all, or at least not at peak performance. Just because the fan is running doesn't mean the "vent" is working.

Fart fans/bath fans and kitchen exhaust vents can be covered with a screen/grill to protect them from intrusion. Dryer vents can only be covered with the flapper! Lint can buildup on the screen- which could lead to a fire.

I guess issue is- does it really do harm to have the vents working at maybe 30% capacity? I don't really care that birds are in there. I love animals lol.

Oh brother!!!
Is the biggest investment in your life really worth a couple of birds?

Blockages in the vents can attract moisture, or create other issues. Old unused bird's nests can cause fires as well, or attract insects which then make your way into the house.

Clear out the birds. They will make another nest in the trees nearby. Not worth the risk.

They do make screens to put over some vents...depending on the use.

Ours had a cover over them, like a plastic cage kind of thing. Let out the air, but kept out birds and critters.
