Soak rice in water with plenty of apple cider vinegar...
ants, eggs will be killed and float to top...even when you think there are no bugs,
to ease your stress. Nothing lives in vinegar!
In Florida weevils were an issue.
Everything went into a jar of some kind first thing.

While on the subject of rice...I only buy organic...rice has the most pesticides
than most anything...saw a TV show on it.

I keep everything in plastic ware unless it is canned or in glas. Clean out your pantry, scrub it down.

An inexpensive way to store rice (or any dry foods) to keep insects and rodents out of it, is to put it into a simple 5 gallon plastic bucket (with a lid). If you buy the white ones, you can see if anything gets in there. Lots of people who store food for a rainy day will use the 5 gallon white buckets.

If you wish, freeze the bags of rice first, as that will kill anything alive in it.

Anytime a tenant calls and complains about ants this is exactly what I tell them and I almost never get another call about it.

Terro Liquid Ant Baits, 6pk - Walmart.com
Yep, Terro works wonders, and you can buy it at any Walmart, even in Mexico.
