Default I love fireplaces!

Why did I think that Alabama doesn't get snow? Love your home. What a fun place to live with all the room and fireplaces! I grew up with a all brick fireplace with a basic slab of wood as a mantle. I thought we were lucky. These other fireplaces that just have a mantle and a picture above is still so foreign to me! LOL I love the brick though, so warm and homey to me. This isn't my fireplace, but it's a fireplace I love to sit infront of as much as I can. To me, this is what a fireplace should look like, but I'm more a traditional kind of girl.

Did that upstairs porch roof used to have railings and a deck? I noticed the door on the second floor.

Yes, lovely house!

Yes it did, it was called a widows walk! We plan to restore the home to it's original glory, or at least the way it looked in the oldest picture we have(from 1940)..........here it is.

A labor of love. Thanks for pics. Do put in the old fireplaces but don't do something modern that would be out of place for such a lovely home. Your house deserves it.

A widow's walk, but I bet it would be quite pleasant on the upstair's deck. It is much larger than many a house that had that.

Here are some renovation pix from 1996. We found the lady that did the major resto on the house and she shared her pix with us.........the fireplaces are now covered up. The oven sits in front of the first and the second is in the upstairs bathroom.
