Can someone please help me! I have been quoted as much as $800 for undercabinet lighting for my kitchen remodel. It's not a huge kitchen and I do not have that many cabinets. The problem is that I want a cool white light, because my kitchen is modern and bright. I heard that you can find LED light strips for cheap on Amazon and eBay, but I don't know if they are any good. Does anyone have any recommendations or good experiences with more inexpensive undercabinet lighting. I mean I could buy the most gorgeous chandelier for $800! Why should I spend that much for something you can't really enjoy as much visually?

IKEA brand is too yellow.

I went to all the big box stores and don't find the strips in the cooler bright white I prefer. That's the problem.

Amazon.

I used them for a different purpose. They work fine, and are cheap enough that I took the risk in case they didn't.

Decide first what °K you want.
Then decide how many lumens you want.
Now, do your searching.

2500-3000K = yellowish
5000-6000K = white

Average 40W light bulb = ~ 500 lumens
Average 60W light bulb = ~ 800 lumens

Is that quote just for the lights or is installation included?

My husband is doing the electrical right now for our under cabinet lighting and I know he had to add another outlet for the transformer for the lights....

maybe your guy has to do some electrical upgrades too..

Don't do what people I know did and wire them with speaker wire. Depending on how you install them you either need direct wire or plug in. The direct wires are more expensive but allow for a cleaner install.
