About a week ago my garage door started making a ringing sound (like a quiet door bell) when opening and closing. Starts and stop when the door opens fully or closes fully. Any ideas if it's just the wheels that need lubrication or something else?
I think I know what your are referring to. We had something similar on a house we rented long ago. It was the springs, however I do no remember what the issue was with he springs, either they were catching on something or they were just worn out and failing. I think they were sagging a bit when relaxed so they caught on something and then snapped free making a pining sound like a doorbell, but that may have been a different house. We are talking about pre-1996, it is hard to remember. They ended up replacing the springs and it was fine. Kind of a WAG since there is no way to know whether the sound is the same, but your description sounds similar.
