This question was provoked by another post I had so sorry for all the granite questions.

Recently got new granite and have heard from a few to "seal it". Now to me my understand is its polished but is my countertop sealed? If I leave a drop of water or oil on it, it seems to soak through. Is there a DIY product that seals it long term? I bought something at homedepot and it's like a spray that just says to spray and buff. Not sure if this is something I can do myself easily? Also don't want to stain the stone and risk messing up the color of the light stone by doing it wrong?

Yeah im getting mixed feedback. The installer said as long as you keep it clean daily with a mild Ph cleaner theres no need to seal it. He said it CAN stain alot easier if you dont keep on top of every splash or spil. I am just curious on how to do it.

I made a stain on our kitchen granite but was able to remove the stain with "Soft Scrub with Bleach". But the stain was not very old at all -- probably less than 4 hours.
