we do have a house cleaner every 2 weeks; she cleans all of 3 bathrooms deep clean, sweep, and mop our hardwood floors and vaccum our area rugs in every room. She also dust everywhere, which is important to me since we have allergy kids, deep clean our kitchen at every visit then cleans fridge/ovens once a month. In between, i sweep daily, clean our kitchen, empty all trashes as needed, make our beds and spot clean the 2 bathroom sinks. I love it, cuz it allows me to spend time with my boys and just focus on keep the house organized, pick up the toys and declutter our space every so often.
No, I have not any cleaner or maid . I like to do my all house works and I know I do better than them. Then Why I go to waste my money. Do Your Work Yourself and Enjoy!
I noticed someone on here say , When the cleaner comes in..... and wondered just how many of you do have a domestic, maid or cleaner...and do you tidy before she comes... some do.

Yes, because it is affordable here. $3 an hour and they really appreciate the work. So for $9 every other week I get 3 hours of great cleaning. They do the sliding doors and the balcony, do the laundry, change the sheets and make the beds, dishes if you leave them (I don't---I do dishes). And of course all the regular stuff. Most retirees here use them.
Cleaning is physically hard for me, and the other half hates it (as do I) so why not.
Another bonus is that it forces us to pick up and put things away before they come. They don't have a key, we wait at the pool for them. We do put valuables in the safe---what few we have.
This was part of the positive "trade-offs" of this relocation.
There is one where I'm living right now, (not my home, I'm the caretaker). The place is a beach rental with 8 bedrooms and 7 baths, one with 2 toilets. The everyday things like dishes, laundry, sweeping I do. She comes once a week and usually stays 5-6 hours. She gets $20 an hour. She likes to stay and have a couple of drinks after work.
Nope. When we were both working AND we had 2 teens AND I was going to graduate school, we tried a cleaning service but found it too stressful and that the level of cleaning they did was not really worth the money.
Of course, I always wanted someone who was licensed and bonded, too, not someone doing it under the table or at "migrant" wages.

I had a couple of ladies clean once a week when I worked. I liked coming home to a clean house. I don't enjoy having them there if I am home, and I don't enjoy scrambling around the night before to clear the decks. I guess it's like what they say about sausage making....nobody wants to watch it being made, but everyone likes the finished product.
Now, I can't justify the expense, because I'm at home and nothing gets very dirty anyway. I'd rather just do it myself.
Sometimes it's such a mess done by my children, that I'm ashamed to call strangers to clean it all. I know where my stuff is and where I put it. I do everything myself, though sometimes I need 4-5 hours. Still, as they say, cleaning the house 20 minutes a day can keep you from spending the whole holidays on that routine.
