Hey All,

Just wanted to check if anyone has reviews (good or bad) about Wireless Home security Camera systems. I already have alarm system but planning to add couple more cameras (one in front and one in back) to my house.
I looked at Google Nest but seems like they charges extra for storing videos. Has anyone used Lorex Wireless cameras?
Ideally, i need wireless camera with receiver that displays whats happening outside and also store videos.

Thanks,

We love our Nest Cams, but yes they do cost $100 for the first camera and $50 for each additional on an annual basis to take advantage of the cloud retention. Because they've worked so well, we will continue to use them but the cost of admission is definitely a little bit on the high side.

Thanks Haudi, rather than using cloud retention, is there any option to store videos locally?

Unfortunately, no there isn't. That's the one big flaw that I see. If their cloud service goes down, or your wifi goes down, you are out your video monitoring. Thankfully that has been an extremely rare occurrence.

Thanks, Yeah. It's good to have some option locally.

If you wanted wireless security cameras, then I would go for something like a ZModo NVR system, which comes with a DVR that you can monitor remotely from a tablet, phone or PC.

Check out Lorex POE camera setups. No battery changes like wireless and very easy install. 1 wire.

I personally wouldn't depend on wireless cameras for security because they're not as reliable as wired. If I were to go wireless, I'd go with the Netgear Arlo series, since they communicate directly with a hub which is hardwired to your network, therefore, it won't interfere with your existing wireless devices and bandwidth.

We use honeywell total connect but we have have full home automation, alarm monitoring and cameras. Simple and easy to do and very reasonably priced through alarmgrid for monthly service.

Thanks everyone for your valuable inputs. I apologize for not being too clear on what i meant by "wireless"
I am actually looking for a camera that can be installed without power source (i.e. battery operated). So far, it looks like i have only 2 options, Netgear Arlo and Ring stick up cam but none of them store videos locally.

Thanks,
