Hi forum, so over the last 5 years I have posted on this forum about my hot rooms in my house, I've added black outs, shade trees, and even got my AC upgraded and returns put in. It has all helped a great deal and it is definitely a lot more comfortable. But now I'm also just wondering about my ceiling fans, the rooms are only about 11 by 12, so I have the 42 inch fan flush mount (about 9ft ceilings), but would there be any harm in getting a 60 inch fan in the room, I feel like especially for the bedrooms that have two people the little fans don't quite blow the air around all that much. Anyone have any experience in this? Thanks as always to anyone who replies.
Your problem is the flush mount. Too close to the ceiling to get any air moving down. Even a six inch drop more than you have now would make a difference.

Then you won't gain anything with a 60" larger fan except maybe some blade noise.
How low is your ceiling. Ours is the standard 9' and we have a 10" fan drop and it's more that sufficient with a 42 inch blade. No head banging here.
never buy a flush mount fan buy one with a down rod as they move more air. and look at blade pitches to as that makes a difference
Flush mounts are ideal for ceilings 7'10", or lower. So if your ceiling is 8 feet, a flush mount is not needed. Flush mounts push 40% less air than a fan on a short downrod.

Totally true. Get a ceiling fan with a drop of 3 to 6 inches. You'll feel it more...
