I know this topic has somewhat been done before, after searching, I didn't immediately see a thread in the multitudes of pages regarding an actual system recommendation.
We live in a large garden/basement apartment (so, nothing hard wired) and currently have Frontpoint (paying $45/month). We are disappointed with Frontpoint and are looking to change now that our contract is up. Our apartment has 2 entry/exit doors, 8 windows, 2 cats (optional 3rd door to storage as well). We already have 2 Nest indoor cameras, so Nest integration is preferred).
What we need:
-- Ideally, no contract
-- Must have at least the 2 doors covered
-- Ideally self-monitored or very low cost monitoring
What we want:
-- All doors/windows covered
-- Ability to cover the window being smashed (we have the newer double pane windows that Frontpoint stated could not be monitored with a glass break sensor due to construction of window)
I would really like some recommendations as well. Abode (goabode.com) supposedly has Nest integration but I am not sure to what extent. I expect to order from them in a month if I don't hear any new recommendations from anyone else.

May I ask what made you chose Abode over other systems? I am just curious :-)
I haven't chosen anything yet as I'm almost 4 weeks away from closing. I don't want to get tied into a contract and I want to buy something that's on the leading edge of technology. I am interested in Amazon Echo, Nest, and other home automation and right now Abode seems like a good solution that offers professional monitoring with DIY install.
You buy the equipment and it's all DIY install (just peel and STICK). Customize as needed, and no contract. You don't even need to have it monitored if you don't want to - I think it's just a small monthly fee if you do.
If not monitored, it will make a lot of noise. I'm not sure it has a window smash detector but you can always add another motion detector instead? Anyway, for what it is, it's a great product. Not sure about your NEST requirement tho
Bought it for a property in a dicey neighborhood and it worked great as a deterrent.

I don't recommend Simplisafe. It is easily hacked, and they won't/can't address the vulnerability.
Go with something from any of the established vendors in residential security: Honeywell/Ademco, DSC, GE/Interlogix, or a newcomer with a quality offering like Qolsys or 2GIG (started by former Honeywell execs, now part of Nortek). I prefer hybrid wired/wireless systems, as it is easier to drive external devices (sirens, strobes) and/or relays with them.

Since you already have a system, I take it you want a rec on a monitoring co? As with most systems- especially wireless- you can do add-on's to expand coverage.
That question would be who is locally available? Not all monitoring companies cover every part of the country.
I have simplisafe and it works great. They called the police once, nice system.
