When I look at the RE section of the Las Vegas Review Journal, recording houses that sold, with their crazy street names, I shake my head

Zip code 89002: Hocus Pocus Place
Zip code 89115: Chasing Heart Way
Zip code 89052: Crocodile Avenue
Zip code 89002: Shootout Place

Would I even consider buy a house on one of these streets?

I was recently reading a bio of Joseph Estrada, a past President of the Philippines, and he had a mansion in the luxurious, upscale WackWack neighborhood of Manila. Would you buy a house in that neighborhood?

How about you? Have you ever re-considered, momentarily, buying a house on a street with a name that turned you off in some way?

Up the road from me is a street named Zodiac Street. Fine! But would I want to live next door to a Scorpio or Libra? Is there an Aries section of that street where I'd fit in more?

I live on a street with an unusual name.
The name was never a factor... location, decent taxes, and great school district were.

This seems to come up every two years.

I would hesitate if the name implied something about the neighborhood that I did not want applied to me. For example, all names of gun manufacturers in one development. Or names related to religious extremism. Or names of certain politicians. Ruger Rd, Remington Way, Badass Lane. Biblethump Ave. Kluklux Court. Not that I have seen any of these, thank goodness.

I never realized hoplophobia extended to street names.

Where I am some newer individuals to the area feel that the named streets are classier than the numbered ones.

I thought twice because where I was going to build I'd have a "bad" street number AND a weird street name but I liked the lot, it fit the plan I wanted to use and obviously the subdivision was good so I just had to bite the bullet.

Nowadays your physical address is not as big a deal, I don't think - many people you communicate with you don't even WANT them to know your address - you just are using a screen name or email so it doesn't even enter the equation.

If it's hilariously bad, I would. Around here we have a Buzzard Bottom Rd., which I personally think is cool.

I found those names charming. On the other hand, I hate when streets have a certain name and one street goes against that. Like we had someone famous grow up where I live so it'll be like number street for a while then Smith St. Which I think is stupid and a bit confusing when people drive there, because they think the numbers stop there, but they keep going afterwards.
